Radicova Asks Parliament for Support in Putting End to Irresponsibility

Bratislava, August 3 (TASR) - The Government Manifesto is my personal commitment to put an end to irresponsible policy, and my intention is "that this will be the end of an era in which the best time for resolving acute problems is tomorrow, in a year or during the next electoral term," said Prime Minister Radicova in her speech concerning the Manifesto in Parliament on Tuesday.

Radicova said she hopes that the Manifesto will bring back trust in the ability of the Government to improve the quality of peoples' lives in Slovakia. "This is the key point of our policy - to secure a meaningful everyday life for our people," she stated.

The head of the Cabinet at the same time asked Parliament for support in the confidence vote in her Government. She stressed that without support it isn't possible to resolve problems, fight corruption, help people find jobs or form better rules.

Radicova at the same time criticised the state in which her Government found the country on taking power. For example, she pointed to the judicial system, Slovak-Hungarian relations, the level of corruption and the state of public finances. According to her, Slovakia has missed many of the chances that it had as a country that had started reforms. She stressed that she doesn't want to claim that the country didn't achieve any success at all during the four years of Robert Fico's government, however.
