Slota: I Won't Run for SNS Chair If Nobody Else Proposes Me

Bratislava, August 3 (TASR) - Slovak National Party (SNS) chairman Jan Slota doesn't intend to put himself forward for re-election at the SNS congress in September, but he isn't ruling out the possibility that somebody else may propose him as a candidate.
Asked by TASR whether he would accept the candidacy if proposed by some other SNS member, Slota said that "this is quite a different thing". According to him, it's too early to publish information on the candidates for the new SNS leadership. "September is still very far away. And, on the other hand, I'm very surprised that there is such big interest in SNS and in the congress. We're the smallest party in Parliament. Let's wait for the congress," said Slota.
Asked whether SNS vice-chair Anna Belousovova would be an acceptable candidate for the post if he himself isn't interested, Slota replied that every SNS member is allowed to stand as a candidate. "Every single SNS member can become the chair. Certainly, she has better prospects than ordinary members," he said.
