Bratislava, August 2 (TASR) - The Culture and Tourism Ministry has saved more than €1 million since the new Government took office, said Culture Minister Daniel Krajcer on Monday, adding that this was achieved by cancelling certain inefficient public procurements concluded by the former government.
Krajcer views efficient dealing with public money as one of his main priorities for the next four years. Based on this, he's looked into all contracts signed shortly before the general election in June.
The new minister doesn't like the way in which cultural treasures are treated, so the ministry has been preparing to change legislative norms via which problems with land should be resolved. "This isn't only about money," he stressed, adding that apart from state money and EU Funds, he's also interested in improving communications with the private sector.
In addition, the Culture Ministry is preparing a comprehensive reform of the public-service media. The Government Manifesto includes the abolition of licence fees for Slovak Television and Slovak Radio. Krajcer doesn't view the reforms only in terms of financing, however, but also from the perspective of an overall broadcasting concept.
