Bratislava, July 28 (TASR) - The new Coalition is clearly experiencing problems with integrity and the upcoming Parliamentary sessions will soon reveal how the Government will fare, Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic told TASR on Wednesday.
Gasparovic spoke in reaction to the current situation, wherein four Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) MPs are contemplating leaving the SaS caucus due to the Cabinet failing to include their demands into the Government's Manifesto.
"The budget discussions will show whether or not, and to what extent, the Government will maintain its standing," said the president, adding that he views the rise of the new Coalition as "literally shaky". According to him, the start of the new Government is less than optimal, as stability represents the basis for good policies. "Stability will translate into the satisfaction of citizens and their perception of the government."
Gasparovic hasn't seen the final version of Manifesto yet. He thinks, however, that the Government will need to continue the social programmes introduced by its predecessor. "I think the current Coalition realises this, as insensitive social policies were one of the reasons why an early election took place in 2006."
