Bratislava, July 27 (TASR) - Economy and Construction Minister Juraj Miskov on Tuesday announced plans to bring about a dramatic improvement in Slovakia's business environment.
"It would be great if we could turn the country into the Singapore of Central and Eastern Europe. I wish that entrepreneurs had at least half as favourable conditions for doing business as in Singapore, which leads the way in terms of business freedoms," Miskov told TASR in an interview.
As the worst problems for business activities in Slovakia, Miskov cited unstable legislation and too much paperwork, which he would like to reduce by a quarter before 2012.
In the near future, Miskov intends to set up an institute to specialise in analysing and proposing measures to improve the domestic business environment. The ministry currently has two analysts instead of the twenty it needs, and co-operation with other ministries is weak.
