Radicova Submits Amendment to Competences Act for Public Comment

Bratislava, July 27 (TASR) - Premier Iveta Radicova has invited comments from government ministries and the public for her bill to amend the Competences Act, which she posted online on Tuesday.
In the bill, proposed to take effect as of November 1, Radicova wants to address issues affecting ethnic minorities by investing the relevant deputy premier with more powers, such as the distribution of minority funds and the setting-up of a specialised government council to co-ordinate his activities with the Government.
The country's first female prime minister further proposes transferring powers concerning foreign trade from the Economy and Construction Ministry to the Foreign Affairs Ministry. This is in order to save public funds by doing away with the need to rent premises for certain economy ministry divisions, passing their powers onto embassies abroad.
