Dzurinda to Participate in Foreign Affairs and General Affairs Councils

Bratislava/Brussels, July 25 (TASR) - Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda will for the first time since his appointment take part in sessions of the foreign affairs ministers of EU-member states at the foreign affairs council and general affairs council in Brussels on Monday, TASR was told by ministry spokesman Peter Stano.

At the general affairs council, the ministers will deal with preparations for a conference concerning Iceland's accession to the EU as well as the formation of the European External Action Service.

The foreign affairs council will discuss the situation in Gaza, as well as the EU's engagement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ministers will also focus on possible action vis-a-vis Iran's nuclear programme as well as the ruling of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the Hague last week that Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence in 2008 didn't violate international law.
