Duslo Sala Counting Cost After Saturday's Gas Explosion

Bratislava, July 25 (TASR) - The clear-up work after the natural gas explosion and subsequent fire at the Duslo chemicals factory in Sala (Nitra region) on Saturday has been fully completed, TASR was told by general director of the factory Marek Strpka on Sunday.

The gas exploded shortly after 4.30 p.m. on Saturday during the initiation of an 'ammonium 3' operation, injuring five people. According to Strpka, the fire was completely out by 6.45 p.m. on Saturday. The fire brigade monitored the site overnight in order to prevent unexpected problems.

The five people who were injured were taken to local hospitals. "They have minor skin injuries," said the director, adding that one of the employees was admitted to hospital with a suspected serious injury to the spine, but this wasn't confirmed.

The local environment wasn't affected by the blast, as has been confirmed by various tests.

Strpka stated that the extent of the damage has not been determined as yet.
