Labour Ministry: SaS Party Scaring and Misleading Public on Pensions

Bratislava, December 11 (TASR) - The statements made by Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party vice-chair Jozef Mihal on Friday about old-age pensions have nothing to do with any form of expertise, said Labour, Social Affairs and Family Ministry spokesman Michal Stuska on Friday.

Stuska, who called on SaS to stop "scaring and misleading people", was reacting to Mihal's statement that pensions in 2010 will be €16.50 per month lower on average due to the Government's system of management.

The system of increasing Actual Pension Value (ADH) should guarantee that two individuals meeting the same criteria will receive the same level of pension regardless of when they began drawing their pension. "Old-age pensions can be drawn retro-actively as well. The entitlement to pension created by meeting the statutory conditions doesn't expire over time nor does it lapse," said Stuska.
