Cabinet Aims to Cut Paperwork Load by 25 percent by 2012

Bratislava, July 22 (TASR) - Better conditions for entrepreneurs, a 25-percent reduction in red tape for businesses by 2012 and informatisation of the state and public administration are the chief priorities of the Economy Ministry, according to a working version of the Government Manifesto that TASR has obtained.

The points are included in the ministry's priorities for improving conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises.

According to chief economist with Slovenska Sporitelna bank Juraj Barta, relief in terms of the paperwork load is essential, particularly as regards small traders and small businesses. "This will contribute to improving the business environment, the quality of which has been stagnating," he noted.

The problem especially affects small companies, which have to deal with a similar quantum of red tape as the larger companies, which therefore have an easier time dealing with the administration burden. The improvement in conditions is especially needed in view of the fact that this goes hand in hand with the dynamic development in Slovakia's economy and job creation.
