Bratislava, July 21 (TASR) - Premier Iveta Radicova said on Wednesday that after taking office earlier this month she found that most of the funds in the prime minister's reserve had been spent in the first half of 2010.
Speaking after a Government session, she said that to the best of her knowledge out of €25 million there is €2 million left.
"We are now looking at what has been hastily pledged under contract so that we dispatch these funds targeted at flood victims," she said.
Radicova further stated that she is now in the process of delivering her pledges made during last week's working trip to the flood-hit towns and villages in eastern Slovakia. She at first approved the aid for the hardest-hit Nizna Mysla, where the landslides following lengthy rainfall on the night of July 4 damaged more than 40 houses – including 26 that had to be torn down, and others completely reconstructed.
Of her reserve Radicova vowed to distribute funds to cover those pledges regarding urgent needs.
Former premier Robert Fico in June dismissed allegations that he had spent all of his financial reserve, calling it a fabrication, and adding that he didn't even use half of it.
