Radicova Planning to Abolish Unuseful Proxies and Introduce New Ones

Bratislava, July 16 (TASR) - Prime Minister Iveta Radicova told journalists at an informal meeting on Thursday evening that she's planning to do away with government proxies whose activities don't hold great importance, introducing new, more useful posts instead.

According to Radicova, the changes will certainly not concern the government proxy for the Roma communities, as that agenda is very broad and difficult. Conversely, she doesn't view the role of the proxy for sports and youth and the one for the faster construction of highways as being particularly justified. The latter deals with an agenda for which the Construction and Regional Development Ministry holds responsibility.

Instead of unimportant proxies, Radicova would rather see new posts, such as a proxy for the non-government sector, for example, as she thinks that this agenda needs more attention. The new PM is also thinking about introducing the post of proxy for public administration. After a session with representatives of regional authorities, she found that there are so many problems in this area that a specific person should deal with them.

Radicova conceded that some changes will have to affect government consultancy bodies. First of all, she would like to find out which of them are useful and what the results of their work are. Those that aren't efficient should be scrapped and their powers transferred elsewhere.
