Cabinet to Ask for Help From EU vis-a-vis Flood Damage by Friday

Bratislava, July 14 (TASR) - Slovakia will put in a request for financial assistance from the European Union's Solidarity Fund by Friday, July 16 vis-a-vis the floods that hit the country recently, according to a document that was submitted by the Finance Ministry and approved by the Cabinet at its session on Wednesday.
The Government also has to submit an estimate of the damage incurred by Friday.
"This date was announced by the EU, as according to the rules in effect it's possible to request help from the EU's Solidarity Fund within ten weeks after the damage is incurred," reads the document.
The latest estimates on the damage stand at €695.1 million. The Agriculture Ministry announced the highest share of this damage - €575.86 million. Announcements are also expected, inter alia, from the Government Office, the Culture Ministry and the former Construction and Regional Development Ministry.
