Bratislava, December 10 (TASR) - Parliament on Thursday elected nine judges to sit on the 10-member disciplinary court at the initiative of LS-HZDS chairman Vladimir Meciar, TASR learnt on the same day.
Along with Judita Dubjelova (also a HZDS nominee), who was elected for the same post on Wednesday, the judges who received a majority of votes and were thus elected on Thursday include Marian Furman, Renata Janakova, Juraj Juricek, Dana Kalnayova, Jozef Kolcun, Viliam Pohancenik, Pavol Sabol, Daniela Sikutova and Martin Vladik.
A total of 19 candidates were put forth on Thursday, with Meciar nominating 10 of them.
On the other hand, the Opposition's candidates didn't receive the support needed. The hopefuls included so-called civic candidates as nominated by Fair-play Alliance, Citizen and Democracy, Transparency International Slovensko and Via Iuris.
The voting on Thursday was the third attempt to elect the judges, as two previous attempts failed earlier this year. Disciplinary court judges assess the conduct of judges and penalise them when appropriate.
