Bratislava, July 9 (TASR) - Smer-SD chairman, MP and former premier Robert Fico intends to remain in politics for as long as he is wanted by the public, he said in answer to journalists' questions after being voted in as the fourth deputy chairman of Parliament with the support of 100 votes out of 144 lawmakers present in the chamber.
Reminded of his past declarations about being out of politics by 2014, he said he does not know what is going to happen in four years' time. "Man proposes, God disposes," he told reporters.
But Fico (who has consistently been the most-trusted politician in Slovakia for a decade based on opinion polls) said that he would hate to end up like some politicians – polling 0.000 and still thinking they should stay in the game. He indicated that such politicians should exercise self-reflection and bow out.
