Fico Suggests Premier Take Picture of Herself Now for 2014 Comparison

Bratislava, July 9 (TASR) - MP and former premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) recommended new Premier Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) on Friday to take a picture of herself at the beginning of her tenure.

Fico reacted this way to the question whether he feels relief that the four strenuous years of his premiership are over.

"Maybe it wasn't the most gallant thing in the world to say, but I did say it anyway. Take a picture now, and compare it four years later to see what that burden will to do you," said Fico. He stressed that although he represents an opponent of Radicova, he wishes her fewer tragedies and misfortunes than he experienced.

"It's a relief, we need to get some rest after those four exhausting years, because I given it all the energy I had. However, I belong among people who recharge their batteries quickly, so there will be a quite dynamic and active Opposition," said Fico.

He thinks that this parliamentary term will be rather interesting. "I hope that this Parliament will be at least as stable as when we were in power (2006-10). The previous coalition had absolutely no problems with passing laws or implementing the Manifesto," he said.

He added that Smer-SD is interested in constructive leadership over Parliament; but on the other hand, it stands ready to be a "constant Opposition" whenever it will see that "decisions are passed and measures embraced that go against our vision of the world".
