Profile: Chairman of Parliament Richard Sulik

Bratislava, July 8 (TASR) - The Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS) head Richard Sulik was elected chairman of the 5th Parliament at its opening session on Thursday. TASR publishes his profile:

Sulik, founder of the liberal free-market SaS and its chairman was born January 13, 1968 in Bratislava.

Between 1987-1989, after his family emigrated to West Germany, he read physics at the University of Technology and between 1989-1992 economics at the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, majoring in business economy.

From 1998-2003 Sulik majored in tax and tax consulting at the Economics University's National Economy Faculty in Bratislava. The subject of his thesis was Tax Reform of the Slovak Republic.

From 1991-2001, Richard Sulik headed up the joint stock company Fax and Copy, later renamed FaxCopy, which he had founded.

Between 2002-03 he was advisor for tax reform to Finance Minister Ivan Miklos and sat on the ministry's advisory board until 2006.

From 2004-2006 he was director for the restructuring at Bratislava's joint stock company OLO, specialising in waste disposal.

Between 2005-06 he worked as advisor to the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family and from 2006-07 he was advisor to the Finance Minister Jan Pociatek.
