Bratislava, July 7 (TASR) - The Interior Ministry has agreed on financial compensation for Stefan Gonda, a man from Poprad (Presov region) who unwittingly flew to Dublin in January with explosives that had been put in his luggage by police during a training exercise, outgoing Interior Minister Robert Kalinak confirmed for TASR on Wednesday.
Kalinak refused to specify the level of compensation, but said that both sides were satisfied with the agreement. Gonda said in January that he didn't want to disclose the exact amount of money he should receive.
Gonda boarded a plane travelling from Poprad to the Irish capital on January 2. Police at the airport hid samples of explosives in the luggage of several unsuspecting passengers as part of a training exercise. A 90-gram package of RDX explosive became stuck in the straps of the electrician's bag and was put on board the plane undetected. The 49-year-old man was arrested in Ireland and subsequently released without charge.
