Bratislava, July 4 (TASR) - The majority (77 percent) of large-size companies in Slovakia don't appeal against rulings of tax inspectors, even if they have doubts as to whether tax officials imposed additional taxes correctly. This is according to a survey on tax inspections recently carried out by a business-consultancy company Deloitte Slovensko.
"Even if the relations between companies and tax authorities are good, four out of five firms who had to pay additional taxes didn't use any of the remedial instruments available. However, at least a half of those who called for a remedy managed to cut the additionally imposed taxes - at least partially," said Miroslav Tain, one of Deloitte Slovensko managers.
In total, tax authorities imposed additional taxes on 56 percent of business entities under inspection.
The survey has also shown that most of the inspected companies felt satisfied with how the tax inspectors proceeded, with more than 80 percent of them saying that inspectors did their job correctly and transparently.
Deloitte Slovensko was surveying 100 companies throughout Slovakia, with 70 percent of them being part of multi-national business groups. Of the firms that joined the survey, 85 percent reported their annual turnover exceeding €10 million.
