Bratislava, July 2 (TASR) - According to the Slovak Business Alliance (PAS), the elimination of corruption is the absolute priority as far as improving the business environment is concerned, PAS executive director Robert Kicina said at a press conference in Bratislava on Friday.
According to Kicina, speaking during the presentation of 'A Report on The Business Environment in Slovakia in 2010', other priorities are improved law enforcement and moves to simplify pay-roll deductions and legislation.
"These are the areas that need to be focused on," stated Kicina, who thinks that the introduction of electronic auctions in public procurements as well as the publishing of important contracts could help to fight corruption. "In this area, we can see a significant agreement between PAS and the forming centre-right government," he said.
"Reform of the judiciary is more demanding issue, but it needs to be resolved urgently, because for twenty years now the problems have been only accumulating and the conditions are worsening," stated Kicina.
He said that PAS has a clear concept of how to simplify pay-roll deductions, even during the global economic crisis.
The fourth priority is to eliminate frequent amendments to the law, often without debates. "Clear rules need to be introduced, which would not be bypassed. Those (rules) should help entrepreneurs to see what is being prepared in the legislative, as well as to intervene in the process," he explained, adding that the passing of legislation has to be slowed down, while there is also a need to focus on impact of passed legislation on the business environment.
Kicina said that PAS plans to submit its proposals for improving the business environment in Slovakia to the four centre-right parties (SDKU-DS, Freedom and Solidarity/SaS, Christian Democratic Movement/KDH and Most-Hid) that are currently holding talks to form the new government.
