Zilina, June 28 (TASR) - The region of Zilina is running a crisis regime as of June 28 after seeing its tax revenues for June 2010 fall to a five-year low, Zilina governor Juraj Blanar told reporters on Monday.
Zilina region usually earns an average of €4.5 million per month in public taxes. "In June the region received only €550,000, 24.8 percent of the amount for the same period last year," said Blanar.
He further stated that Zilina has asked the Finance Ministry for urgent help in making up the shortfall, with state aid crucial.
The region, according to Blanar, has been doing its best to obtain resources. It has halted capital spending and focused on obtaining funds from the European Union.
