London, November 17 (TASR) - The recipe for improving Slovakia's university-education system is relatively simple but very painful, Slovak Premier Robert Fico said at University College London on Tuesday.
When asked about specific measures, Fico said that state contributions must go to high-quality facilities, something that will be achieved via the accreditation commission. Education Minister Jan Mikolaj enjoys full backing from the Government in this, said Fico.
In response to a question vis-a-vis improving the lot of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, Fico said that if he were an ethnic Hungarian he would strive to maintain the identity of this minority. "In addition, I would do one thing more - I would learn Slovak down to a tee," he said, adding that members of ethnic minorities in Slovakia will benefit from getting a good grasp of the state language.
