Meseznikov: Government Talks in 1998 and 2002 Were More Dramatic

Bratislava, June 25 (TASR) - As far as the allocation of ministerial posts is concerned, it will be interesting to look at the interaction of the two wings of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), political analyst Michal Horsky told TASR on Friday.
"There is a generation of younger politicians led by Mr. Daniel Lipsic and the older ones, who are represented by Pavol Hrusovsky," explained Horsky, adding that these two groups are competing.
According to political analyst Grigorij Meseznikov, the fact that an internal party discussion concerning the allocation of posts is going on could be a sign that the centre-right parties are approaching a definitive agreement. "Parties have their own priorities and ideas, so we have to wait. There are substantially more factors intervening [in the process] than in 2006," he said.
Meseznikov thinks that the formation of governments in 1998 and 2002 was more dramatic than the current one. "I would say that there were heart-stopping situations [back then] but that they came to an agreement anyway," said the political analyst.
