Radicova: Forming New Government Won't Take Us Long

Bratislava, June 23 (TASR) - Prime Minister designate Iveta Radicova on Wednesday confirmed that names of ministers of her Cabinet will certainly be known by Thursday, July 8, which is the deadline set by President Ivan Gasparovic for forming a new Government.
According to her, four centre-right parties SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Hid will reach the final agreement on this sooner than that. "There's no use protracting this ... we won't do that," said chairman of Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) Richard Sulik.
"We surely won't," added Radicova.
Asked whether the names of the new executives will be revealed after the further round of coalition talks (taking place later on Wednesday), Radicova said the plan is first to agree upon what their Coalition Agreement will look like. However, Sulik didn't rule out that the agreement on distribution of seats in the executive could be reached very soon, maybe even in the hours ahead.
The four leaders are set to discuss, among other things, the General Administration Act, as it was recently amended by the outgoing Cabinet of Robert Fico – facilitating the amalgamation of ministries (resulting in 12 rather than 14), effective as of July 1. By this move, ministries of agriculture and agriculture will merge.
According to Radicova, however, the recent floods and the need to deal with the disastrous impacts have justified the idea of keeping the environment ministry as a stand-alone administrative body.
