Average of €516,000 per Working Day Collected in E-Toll in May

Bratislava, June 22 (TASR) - An average of €516,000 per working day was collected in the electronic road toll system in May, Lenka Lendacka from SkyToll, the system's operator, told TASR on Tuesday.

As far as the entire month of May is concerned, a total of €7.2 million was collected in road toll, with €4.85 million tolled on selected stretches of 1st class roads and €380,000 in payments for using transit sections of toll roads.

Since its introduction on January 1 this year, total revenues are on €58.7 million. By way of comparison, €50.6 million was collected in motorway stickers in 2009 – before the e-toll system was put in place.

Electronic tolls on Slovak motorways, highways and first-class roads were introduced for vehicles weighing more than 3.5 tonnes at the beginning of this year.

As of the end of May, around 175,000 vehicles were registered in the system. On average, 22,213 vehicles above 3.5 tonnes customarily use the tarriffed sections of the Slovak roads.
