It Takes More Than A Year on Average for the Unemployed to Find a New Job

Bratislava, June 21 (TASR) - An unemployed Slovak spends more than 13 months on average finding a new job, according to a report released by the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (UPSVaR) on Monday.
The period of registration with job centres has gone up by 2.67 months year-on-year. "It's a practical reflection of the fact that the slight stabilisation on the labour market has not yet been accompanied by a tangible recovery in job creation," TASR was told by Volksbank Slovensko analyst Vladimir Vano.
Job creation lagging behind positive economic figures is also caused by the downturn in the utilisation of industrial capacities, suggests Vano, adding that this is one of the key things that makes big companies want to expand into new markets.
UniCredit Bank analyst David Derenik noted that there is a certain time-shift that can be seen behind the statistics. "During the crisis many people lost their jobs only temporarily, for shorter periods of time," Derenik told TASR. "In general, the short-term jobless are more likely, and in most cases also more successful, in finding a job."
