Radicova to Fico: There's Nothing to Talk About

Bratislava, June 18 (TASR) - Leaders of four centre-right parties - SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Hid - will not meet Prime Minister Robert Fico, they said on Friday in response to Fico inviting them to discuss the unblocking of the European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF).
"There's nothing to talk about," said SDKU-DS election leader Iveta Radicova, the hot candidate for the post of PM. She added that she speaks for all four parties that Fico called on.
Fico on Friday asked leaders of the centre-right four for an immediate meeting concerning the future of the €750-billion EFSF, a legal instrument that EU member countries agreed on in May in order to ensure financial stability across Europe and preserve the euro.
The premier said he did so due to the fact that the current Government has only a formal mandate for decision-making at the moment, and the right-wing bloc (seeking to govern) has already expressed 'no' to EFSF, their stance has to be clearly articulated now, only days before the Union plans to introduce EFSF.
However, according to Radicova, it is the current Government that has full powers to decide how Slovakia is going to proceed in this matter. "I see calling a meeting now, only hours before signing it, to be utter buck-passing. At the moment, we're only designated lawmakers with no powers to decide on such a serious matter," she underlined.
