SDKU Wants to Look Into Tender for Medical Rescue Services

Bratislava, June 17 (TASR) - If the four centre-right parties - SDKU-DS, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) and Most-Hid - succeed in forming a governing coalition, SDKU will look into recently awarded licences for medical rescue services, SDKU MP Viliam Novotny told TASR on Thursday.

According to Novotny, this probe will take place regardless of whether his party acquires the Health Ministry or not.

The awarding of licences for providing medical rescue services was followed by harsh criticism from the unsuccessful bidders and from parliamentary parties SDKU and KDH. MPs from the two parties carried out an MPs' inspection at the Health Ministry to look into the first round of the tender. They wanted to repeat the probe after the final third round was completed, but the parliamentary health committee rejected any further scrutiny.

Eight unsuccessful bidders filed complaints about the tender with the courts. They were unhappy about the fact that the ministry evaluated the bidders according to six criteria, while the relevant legal norms prescribe only three. Bratislava Regional Court rejected the complaint, saying that the tender was in line with the law. The bidders then announced that they would appeal to the Supreme Court.
