Bugar: If We Don't Agree, Voters Will Kick Us Up The Rear

Bratislava, June 16 (TASR) - After meeting Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic on Wednesday, head of the Most-Hid party Bela Bugar said that representatives of the prospective coalition of four parties (SDKU-DS, Freedom and Solidarity/SaS, the Christian Democratic Movement/KDH and Most-Hid) should give information to the public only after debatable issues are discussed and agreements are reached.

Bugar thinks that breaking this rule is the "best way to hell and the elimination of the chance of creating a coalition". According to him, the issues will only be discussed at a meeting of the four parties' representatives next week, and he personally wouldn't raise disputed questions until then.

Bugar appeared to be reacting to KDH chair Jan Figel, who earlier in the day commented on possible friction connected to agreements with the Holy See and the principle of the separation of Church and State. "Mr. Figel should be given some glue and then he won't say such things," he said. Commenting on whether such an issue could threaten the creation of such a coalition, Bugar said that if the parties don't agree, "the voters will kick us up the rear".

Bugar also communicated Gasparovic's remark that he will wait for a request from SDKU-DS and the party's candidate for the premier post Iveta Radicova to meet with him, and based on this request he will hold talks with the representatives of the four parties.
