Bratislava, June 15 (TASR) - SDKU-DS election leader Iveta Radicova, SaS chairman Richard Sulik, Christian Democrats (KDH) chairman Jan Figel and leader of Most-Hid Bela Bugar on Tuesday evening signed a declaration on political co-operation that should result in forming a new Government in the days ahead.
Radicova, viewed as the only real candidate for the post of premier, said that all four parties would on Wednesday ask President Ivan Gasparovic to receive them, in order to inform him on the agreement they signed. "We've also agreed upon our priorities - what to focus on, and what to present to the citizens," explained Radicova, who came second in the race for president last year.
The centre-right four is also setting up a working commission to collate the materials and basic outlines drafted by each of them, and later make it public - in the shape of programme themes. "It will be (in the form of) solutions for citizens as viewed by the future governing coalition," said Radicova, adding that the final version is set to be published on June 22.
When asked whether any deadline by which the centre-right parties would like to form the government exists, Radicova replied that there's no need to hurry. "We'd like to reach an agreement in a responsible way, so every participant will be able to identify with the outcome. There's plenty of time for reaching prudent decisions," she said. Radicova is not worried that any contracts will be signed at the ministries in the meantime. "It's a basic decency to stop making decisions and concluding contracts after the election. I don't expect anyone at the ministries to behave in a way so crudely unethical," she said.
In this respect, Figel called on the outgoing Government representatives to stop putting any further burden upon Slovakia and not carry out any personal changes that a future government is entitled to make.
All four leaders confirmed that they had officially declined Robert Fico's invitation for negotations.
SDKU-DS, SaS, KDH and Most-Hid jointly declared that as future coalition partners they're conscious of the contemporary problems of Slovakia. Because of this, they want to address the problems stemming from the global crisis and the consequences of unresponsible policies introduced by Robert Fico's Government. Likewise, they make plans to aid the creation of new jobs, reduce the state debt, strengthen the principle of rule of law, combat corruption and clientelism, improve the education system and healthcare, improve the standing of minorities as well as international standing of Slovakia.
