Inspection at Land Management Fund Turns Up Conflicting Findings

Bratislava, December 8 (TASR) - Lawmakers from the Parliamentary Committee for Agriculture, Environment and Nature Conservation were looking into the books of the Land Management Fund (SPF) on Tuesday to verify the claims about the irregular transfer of land in the past during restitution procedures.
Miroslav Jurena of the ruling coalition's LS-HZDS said he had found the procedures regarding restitution claims relating to transfer of land in Velky Slavkov beneath Tatra mountains two years ago and the recent Velka Lomnica case to be legally in order.
But he called into question the restitution of land conducted under the previous administration of Mikulas Dzurinda in 2004, when plots were restituted in other locations than the owner were entitled to under deed. Between 2004-2006 there were more than 1,800 hectares transferred in this way.
Opposition Zsolt Simon of Most-Hid, however, cast doubt about the land transfer beneath the Tatra Mountains in which the SPF Board recommendation to the agency's chief to approve the land transfer agreement is missing.
