Investors to New Parliament: Talk to Us

Bratislava, June 14 (TASR) - An informal association called Foreign Trade Chambers, comprising companies from eight countries, is calling on newly-elected parliamentary parties and the next Slovak Government to get engaged in an open and constructive dialogue with the business sphere in Slovakia, TASR was told by spokesperson of the American Trade Chamber Julia Hurna on Monday.

The key topics should focus on boosting the business environment in Slovakia, according to the association. Companies consider an independent justice system and its constant reform to be the most important thing to work on.

"In particular, it should be measures aimed at improving law enforcement, lowering levies, and achieving a more effective links between education and the labour market. Also, a great deal of emphasis needs to be put on the sphere of tourism, and financial policies via-a-vis small- and medium-sized enterprises should be relaxed," suggests the association, representing an umbrella platform for businesses from the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain and Ireland.

Investors willing to run their business in Slovakia also think that eGovernment, i.e. electronic access to public information and services, should be finally launched, and that the Act on Public Procurement needs to be revamped.
