Bratislava, June 13 (TASR) - The Slovak National Party (SNS), which, according to the unofficial results, gained 5.07 percent in the general election on Saturday, made it to the Parliament by a whisker.
The party doesn't head the table of political subjects in any region, not even in Zilina region, which is traditionally viewed as an SNS stronghold. SNS was beaten in the northern parts of Slovakia by its so-far coalition rival Smer-SD, which reached an overall result of 34.79 percent, read the unofficial result by the Statistic Office.
The main opposition party SDKU-DS came second in the election on 15.42 percent, followed by the extra-parliamentary Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) - 12.14 percent, Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) - 8.52 percent, and Slovak-Hungarian Most-Hid - 8.12 percent. The last among the parties that managed to get into Parliament is SNS on 5.07 percent.
LS-HZDS received only 4.32 percent, and thus it has got stuck before the gates of Parliament. A surprising flop was recorded by the ethnic-Hungarian SMK, which also failed to reach the 5-percent threshold needed to get into Parliament, garnering only 4.33 percent.
