Bratislava, November 16 (TASR) - It can't be ruled out that Russian gas supplies to Europe via Ukraine will be halted again in January, Prime Minister Robert Fico said after landing in Bratislava on Monday after conducting a working visit to Russia.
Fico met in Moscow his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin and Gazprom chief Alexei Miller. "It appears that there will be huge problems between Ukraine and Russia again, as Ukraine is unable to pay (for its gas consumption)," said Fico, adding that he is ready to report the Swedish EU presidency about this serious situation.
At the same time, Fico stressed that Slovakia is better prepared for a possible gas crisis that it was the case in January this year (with a two-week halt of gas supplies, which resulted into a €100 million damage for the Slovak economy).
