Teplicka nad Vahom, May 28 (TASR) - A special new railway station covering an area of 80 hectares was opened by Transport Minister Lubomir Vazny in Teplicka nad Vahom near Zilina on Friday.
According to Vazny, the area of Zilina is a natural junction for both road and railway transport, so the station makes sense. "There's an industrial park in Zilina, while another is being planned," he noted. Teplicka nad Vahom is also known for the Kia car plant.
The station should speed up the transport of goods, with a parallel reduction in costs. At the same time, the modern station will also have positive effects on passenger transport, as it will create scope for modernisation and increasing the maximum speed on the lines between Puchov and Zilina, and between Cadca and Zilina, said Transport Ministry spokesman Stanislav Jurikovic.
The project is being co-funded by Eurofunds, with the European Union contributing €51.62 million, added Jurikovic.
