Bratislava, May 27 (TASR) - The opposition Christian Democrats (KDH) on Thursday repudiated Premier and Smer-SD chief Robert Fico's accusations of having helped to rob the Bratislava city of €1.4 million via disadvantageous sales in 2005 as lies which Fico tells since KDH has refused post-election co-operation with his party.
Fico said earlier on Thursday that he has a documentary evidence that the Bratislava council's waste disposal company OLO led by KDH member Peter Stach sold a 1.7-hectare land in the borough of Vajnory to a company called Fax Copy for €1.48 million in 2005. Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) chairman Richard Sulik was member of the OLO board of directors and the largest shareholder in Fax Copy, said Fico.
Furthermore, Mayor of Bratislava Andrej Durkovsky (KDH) must have known about the transfers, the premier added.
"Land sales were put out for tender competition, which registered 18 bidders and the most favourable tender for Bratislava was winner. It's vastly different from the current government decisions and tender procedures," said Figel rejecting any link to Sulik in the past.
Durkovsky backed up Figel's remarks saying "the tender competition was organised transparently in 2005 and the highest bid was selected. The then OLO actions were in compliance with law and fair."
According to Figel, Fico told lies also with regard to Stach. "Peter Stach, chairman of KDH youth and advisor to my predecessor Pavol Hrusovsky, has never been chief of OLO. The Smer-SD leader is lying," said Figel.
