Bratislava, May 24 (TASR) - SDKU-DS welcomes Monday's decision from the Christian Democratic Movement's (KDH) camp to not co-operate with Smer-SD after the June 12 parliamentary election, SDKU-DS election leader Iveta Radicova told TASR on the same day.
"We're glad to receive a positive reaction (from KDH) to our appeal (made over the weekend at the SDKU-DS Central Committee's session held in Skalica)," said Radicova.
With only weeks to go before the election, according to her, the forces on two opposing parts of political spectrum are evenly matched, with a real chance emerging for the Opposition to form the Government. "After four years of impoliteness and constant attacks against everyone, it's important to offer a programme and solutions for the people today instead of false securities," claimed Radicova.
Dubious financial dealings of Smer-SD party and its reluctance to provide an explanation led the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) to decide on Monday to rule out any possible post-election co-operation with Smer-SD.
As recently as last week, KDH said it was willing to accept the prospect of a coalition with Smer-SD as a last resort. This no longer holds true. "KDH is really serious when it says no to Smer," said KDH Chairman Jan Figel, according to whom the party is even willing to run the risk of winding up in Opposition.
