The Slovak Economy Ministry is ready to spend almost €700,000 for three years on a poll carried out among foreigners who visit Slovakia, reports SME daily on its front page on Thursday.
Were you satisfied with Slovak toilets? Have you bought a doll in a traditional Slovak costume as a souvenir? Did you like "bryndzove halusky" (potato dumplings with bryndza sheep cheese and bacon)? These are some of the questions designed to be answered by foreign visitors.
The tender for carrying out the survey has been already published in the Official Journal of the EU.
In addition, a similar survey should be carried out by the state-run Slovak Tourism Agency (SACR).
Legal complaints are being filed after the first round of the elections to the Higher Territorial Units (VUCs) that took place on Saturday, the daily reports also on its front page.
Votes were allegedly being bought and forged in the first round. Roma people were said to be waiting in queues for their "voting rewards".
Stefan Kuzma (SDKU-DS party) and Stanislav Kahanec (KDH) said on Wednesday that they will monitor the course of the second round. They also call on civic associations and the police to help them focus especially on Roma villages.
After a number of publicised cases, another dubious incident was announced in Presov region on Wednesday. LS-HZDS regional chairman Miroslav Kellner allegedly paid to Roma people in order to motivate them to vote for Levoca mayor Miroslav Vilkovsky.
"A number of voters admitted that they should be given €10 for voting for a specific person - €5 before the election and €5 after it. Shortly before the end of the elections, a crowd of Roma people was standing in front of the school. As if they were waiting for the pay," said municipal deputy Jan Lorko, who filed a legal complaint. The case is now investigated by the Office for Fight Against Corruption in Kosice.
