Description:

An illustrated talk by Katarina Vošková and Michaela Kubiková

Michaela Kubiková is active in the preservation and restoration of Slovakia’s rich heritage of historic buildings and landscapes. In 1996 she helped found the Národný Trust Slovenska/National Trust of Slovakia and in 2006, with a group of fellow professionals and interested people, assisted in the setting up of a parallel organisation, “The Friends of Historical Parks and Gardens in Slovakia”. Katarina Vošková teaches in the Architecture Faculty of the Slovak University of Technology, specialising in the conservation of the built environment. For several years she has worked tirelessly to restore the UNESCO-designated but much-decayed World Heritage town of Banská Štiavnica, particularly its outstanding Baroque Calvary complex. Michaela and Katarina will discuss their work in the context of Slovakia’s glorious architectural legacy and the many problems it faces.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the following event organised with the kind cooperation of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic:
